Istarted Foreign Founders in 2022 because I kept meeting immigrant and first-generation founders who had better stories than the media had room for. They were building real companies under real constraints — visa status, capital, language, family pressure, market fit — and making decisions that cost them something. Those stories were too specific for the generic “immigrant hustle” narrative, and too human for the standard founder interview.

The show runs on a tight format: fourteen minutes, one decision, one constraint, one takeaway. That limit is not a gimmick. It is the filter. If a guest cannot name the single hardest thing they are facing right now and the single decision that cost them something, they are not ready for the show. Most applicants are declined.

The best fit is a founder with a real constraint and a decision that cost something. That is where the useful detail lives. We are not a visa-guru channel, and we do not do hustle listicles. We do research-heavy interviews that will still be useful in twelve months, because the constraint is usually not going away.
